Saturday, April 16th, The Molloy Women’s Lacrosse team defeated Queens College 12-7. The lions played this contest to raise funds for the Ranger Lead The Way Fund.
According to leadthewayfund.org, “Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund is a 501c3 non-profit organization established to raise funds in support of disabled U.S. Army Rangers and the families of Rangers who have died, have been injured or are currently serving in harm’s way around the world. Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund will provide spouses and children of deceased, disabled or active duty Rangers with assistance for health/wellness programs and other financial services determined to be vital to the family’s well-being, beyond what the government and Veterans Affairs can offer.”
All ticket sales and shirt profits are going directly to the fund.

Successful Weekend For Molloy Women’s Lacrosse
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – This past weekend, Saturday March 12th and Sunday March 13th, the Molloy Lions went 2-0 at Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex.
After coming off a 9-12 loss against the Assumption College Greyhounds, the Molloy Lions needed to make a recovery. And that’s just what they did.
The Molloy Lions played in their first East Coast Conference game of the season. They defeated the Roberts Wesleyan College RedHawks with a score of 12-8 on Saturday. Last season, the Lions had fell to the Redhawks in over time with a score of 12-14.
After defeating the Redhawks on Saturday, the Lions quickly prepared for Holy Family University, who they would host the very next day! The Molloy Lions walked away with a 16-14 victory over the Tigers.
The Lions proved this weekend that they are definitely a threat in the ECC (East Coast Conference) with defeating Roberts Wesleyan College.
The Molloy Women’s Lacrosse team looks to get their third straight victory this Tuesday against Caldwell University. They will be traveling to Caldwell, NJ to take on the Cougars at 3 P.M..
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Mar. 6, 2016)- The Molloy Women’s Lacrosse team falls to The Assumption Greyhounds this past Sunday afternoon (Mar. 6) at home with a score of 12-9.
The Greyhounds came out strong with an early 5-goal lead over the Lions. By half time, Assumption had a comfortable 8-3 lead over Molloy.
According to the Molloy Lions website, “Molloy (2-2) was led by a three-point outing from four different players, as attackers Alexa Watson (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) and Jessica Markowitz (Baldwin, N.Y.) along with midfielder Brianna Wilson (Levittown, N.Y.) each scored a pair of goals and added an assist. Junior midfielder Cooper Sesselman (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had a goal and two assists for the Lions while senior midfielder Katie O’Brien (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) collected two helpers in the effort. Graduate attacker Meghan Orlando (Hicksville, N.Y.) scored a marker in the game while freshman Casie Caiazza (Melville, N.Y.) notched her first career collegiate goal in the defeat for the maroon and white. Despite taking the loss, red-shirt junior goalie Caroline Winters (Baldwin, N.Y.) made 11 saves in attaining her fourth double-digit save performance through the first four games of the season.”
The Lions would not back down, coming back from half time with an immediate goal to bring the score to 8-4. The maroon and white trailed behind the Greyhounds the entire game. The final score came to 12-9, the Lions falling short. This loss bringing the lions to a solid 2-2 record.
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Feb. 27, 2016)- The Molloy Women’s Lacrosse team had an end of the season upset this Saturday in Quealy Gymnasium.
The No. 6 ranked Lions faced the No. 4 ranked Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks. This game being the determining factor between the Lions and the playoffs. Fortunately, the maroon and white were able to defeat the Redhawks with a close score of 55-49.
The lions will be heading to Buffalo to compete in the first round of the playoffs this Wednesday, March 2nd. Please check the Molloy Lions Website for more information regarding the Women’s Basketball Team.
The Molloy Women’s Basketball team traveled to Dowling on Saturday and left with great success! The Molloy Lions had faced Dowling earlier on in the season where they defeated them with a 66 to 51 victory. As the end of the regular season approaches, the Molloy Lions had to yet again face Dowling.
This time, the Molloy Lions would defeat their opponent 67-64. According to molloylions.com, “Molloy finished the game shooting 45.8% from the floor, while Dowling 49.1% from the field. McDonald topped the scoresheet with 19 points followed by Leftridge and O’Connor, who had 17 and 10 respectively. Surlan and Hill had 20 points apiece for Dowling in the losing effort, the Golden Lions’ 16th straight defeat.”
With just two games left in the regular season and playoffs moving closer, the Molloy Lions have a high chance of making it to the ECC playoffs. The Lions face Daeman College on Saturday February 26th in QUEALY GYMNASIUM.
