IMG_6798 (1)Legally Blonde: The Musical is being performed at Soluna Studios in Happauge this Spring. The musical is based on a novel by Amanda Brown, and a film produced in 2001 of the same name. The musical was previously on Broadway from 2007-2008, so it is an exciting and rare show to see.

Soluna Studios offers acting workshops to both adults and children looking to gain experience in acting. According to their website the studio aims to “give the community a safe environment for creative expression and opportunities to thrive within all areas of the arts. We not only hope to provide theater programs, but also to integrate the worlds of dance, music, theater together and provide education and training that will last a lifetime”. The studio worked on a total of seven shows last season including  popular productions like The Addams Family and In the Heights. The studio is currently rehearsing for this season’s third show. Previous productions shown this year were Big Fish and Andrew Lippa’s Wild Party.

For those who are unfamiliar with the story line, the musical follows a sorority girl through her application to Harvard Law School where she enrolls to win back her ex-boyfriend. She finds her true identity throughout the story and gains her own sense of confidence without her ex.

Samantha Fanning, who is cast as the lead, Elle Woods, in Legally Blonde: The Musical stated that “This is going to be such an amazing show. The rehearsal process is going so well and the cast is working hard to make this show come to life. This opportunity is indescribable. The cast is excited about the show and can’t wait for opening night”.

Samantha went on to say how excited she is to be playing a character that is iconic in the eyes of many, “Playing Elle Woods has given me a newfound confidence and positivity. Her character has shown me to be strong in everything that you do and to never let anyone or anything stand in your way”.

Fanning believes that the director chose the production because of how fun it is and the excitement of the people at Soluna Studio.

Legally Blonde is set to open in May or June of this year, for more information and to keep yourself posted take a look at the Soluna Studio website.
