Charitable Accessory Company, Love Your Melon, Unveils New Line
A Minnesota based charity company that works with childhood cancer patients recently released new beanies on their website. This special event occurred on February 22, 2016, at 6pm central time. The new products include cuffed and uncuffed pom beanies with removable pom poms. A majority of these products sold out within hours of being released.
According to the Love Your Melon website, this organization was founded by two college friends from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. This organization has been growing strong since it first began in October 2012. The mission of this organization is simple. “Love Your Melon is an apparel brand run by college students across the country on a mission to give a hat to every child battling cancer in America” also according to the website. Love Your Melon uses the ‘buy one, give one’ program and has reserved approximately 45,000 hats, which is equal to the amount of children receiving treatment for cancer in the United States. College students wearing superhero costumes deliver these hats to the children in person at the hospitals.
College students all over the world run this organization and with the 9,000 crew members and the 575 different institutions, this organization is possible to help children with cancer. The ambassador program is to “raise awareness for childhood cancer, represent the brand through promotions and sales events and personally engage with our charitable programming initiative”, says Love Your Melon.Com.
Brittany Gross, a Crew Member for Adelphi University, runs the public relations portion of the Crew. She is involved with all of the social media and getting the word out there. She runs the Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter page that is solely dedicated to Adelphi’s Love Your Melon Crew. She said, “The fact that people my age are running such an inspiring company and changing the lives of so many around the country is astonishing”.
She also noted “ The Pom Pom beanies that came out Monday, February 22, 2016, are adorable! They come in all different colors and the Pom Poms on top are removable (which is really nice). There constantly doing new releases, which makes it possibly to have products for everyone”.
The new beanies cost $45 and the regular beanies are $30. Gross owns two of her own beanies and is excited for her new order to arrive. According to Gross she would be willing to purchase all of the hats if she had the funds to do so. In 2015 they sold 51, 264 hats and average cost of a hat being $30 then at least $858,960 is going towards cancer research in 2015. She is so delighted to be working with such an amazing organization.
