Post University Nabs #2 Seed in CACC Tournament

On Sunday, February 20th, 2016, the Post University men’s basketball team beat Concordia College in a close game. The final score was 83-80. This win qualifies the Eagles for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) playoffs. This makes this year the eleventh straight year that Post University has made an appearance in the CACC tournament. The victory also gives Coach Al Sokaitis his 500th win of his high school/collegiate career. 81 of these wins came from Coach Sokaitis’ career at Post University.

Freshman, Tamas Okros, led the team, scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Behind him was sophomore, Tyler Desrosiers, with 21 points. Also a crucial member to the team, senior, David Seymour, put up 9 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals.

Their current record heading into playoffs is 14-12; 9-10 in conference games. Post also beat Dominican College today,in their last regular season game, February 23rd, 62-43, landing them the #2 seed in the CACC tournament. Desrosiers lead the team with 29 points, followed by Seymour, with 13 of his own. When asked how he felt about the two wins and whether or not he was confident in his team’s ability to get past the first round of playoffs this Saturday, junior, Shay Agboola, said, “We’re ready.” Agboola landed a three-pointer in tonight’s game against Dominican, giving the Eagles their biggest lead of the night at 28-9. “We’ve practiced, we’ve hustled, and we’ve more than proved ourselves. It all comes down to how well we play and work together on Saturday.” said Agboola.

The Eagles will face the Devils from the University of Sciences in Philadelphia this Saturday, February 27th. The game will be a home game for the Eagles, as they will be playing at the Drubner Center in Waterbury, CT. Tip-off is scheduled for 2PM.
