Alicia Bagley played the full-figured lead singer, Effie White, who is accompanied Deena Jones and Lorrell Robinson to form the Dreamettes. Alicia says she is incredibly thankful for the opportunity to do such an amazing show. She has never seen the Broadway production but has seen the movie and aspired to fulfill the role of Effie as Jennifer Hudson did in the movie.

Steffy Jolin, who plays Lorrell Robinson, has been in many productions over the years! She recently did Footloose at the old Plainview location of the Cultural Arts Playhouse over the summer and strayed off to Broadhollow Theatre Company to audition for Dreamgirls. “When I heard about it I couldn’t pass up the opportunity” says Steffy. Her next show will be back at the Cultural Arts Playhouse in Syosset. She will be a Hotbox Girl in Guys and Dolls running March 18th through April 10th. You Can’t Stop The Beat!

IMG_3190Good morning Baltimore! This past weekend the brand new Cultural Arts Playhouse in Syosset had their closing show of Hairspray! This production made a great impression being the first mainstage show at this new location. CAP moved from Plainview to Syosset creating a bigger and better space. The new theatre has more audience seating, a bigger dressing room and a larger stage for incredible sets. Choreographer Eliana K-Lichtman says “I’m glad the dancers have a bigger space to dance in and now more people can fit on stage.” Sunday February 21, the theatre for Hairspray was so packed they almost sold out! What a great closing show! The new space has created a buzz around Long Island. Verizon FIOS, Newsday, and My Long Island TV have taken this opportunity to do a special on CAP’s opening show.

The Cultural Arts Playhouse has been entertaining audiences and finding talent for 20 years! We can expect good things to come. To purchase tickets for any of the upcoming shows or more information visit http://www.culturalartsplayhouse.com
